NZ please! I just found your Substack today via a link in Robin Sloan's newsletter so I'm working through the posts now. Like a (much more contemporary) version of Steinbeck's Journal of a Novel. I'm currently listening to the Magicians trilogy again before I start Bright Sword.
When the tour was announced last week and the Powell’s tickets weren’t available yet I contacted them to find out what was up, and their response was basically “🤷🏻♀️” . Oh, Portland, never change…. Hoping to see you here in Oregon next month!
Hope the tour goes well! Sadly, I live in San Antonio, Texas so won’t get to attend any even though I’d really like to. I met you once in person briefly at San Diego Comic Con years back and always wished we could’ve had a longer conversation but the line had to keep moving. 😢 . I’ve always been a huge Arthur fan. I read all the medieval books like Morte d’Arthur, various romances by Chretien de Troyes, and so many other tangential books while I was in high school years ago so I imagine we could talk for hours about it all!
I’m so relieved to learn that an established writer like you can work on a book for years and years. I have an overly long novel that grows every time I work on it. I almost hate the story now—but can’t let go of the characters.
Safe travels, even though you’re definitely not visiting Montgomery,Al—or any Southern states. If you can post as you travel, some of us can vicariously enjoy the trip.
I am incredibly excited to read The Bright Sword! I love your books and I wrote a paper on the many different iterations of the Merlin and Nimue story in undergrad (I'm not huge on Arthuriana but I have always loved that story for some reason).I was just wondering, would it be possible for you to come to Toronto? There is a beautiful little bookstore called Bakka Phoenix that specializes in sci fi and fantasy and it would be amazing if you did an event there. I understand that your time is dictated by your agents and publisher and this year is probably insanely busy.
I would love to come to Toronto. I'm sort of like a vampire, it's easiest if someone invites me -- ideally the bookstore gets in touch with my publisher -- but if asked I would come! The Bright Sword gets into Merlin/Nimue in a big way.
Very late comment but I hope you do get a chance to come back in the fall!!! Wasn't able to make any of these but I just devoured the book and LOVED IT - wish it was 600 pages longer, I could've kept reading forever
Do you have any events planned in Australia? I've never organized an author event but if that what it takes to get you to Melbourne, I will learn how...
“Canada, Australia, New Zealand—you just let me know” —> any possibility of Montreal at some point? We have lots of cozy bookstores and I’m slowly converting all my friends into Magicians fans.
Thank you and safe travels, I love reading these little updates
I would love to go back to NZ! I was in Auckland last year but mostly talking to kids about The Silver Arrow.

Super excited you’re coming to Boston!
My home town! (approximately -- I grew up in Lexington)

I'd hoped to book a stop in Austin ... it didn't happen. Maybe for the paperback.
I can't bring myself to go into the City to the Books Inc at Opera Plaza, but I'll definitely be at Rakestraw in Danville! Can't wait!

I'd really like to do some events in Australia and have asked the publishers to coordinate some ... stay tuned

I love Montreal. And cozy bookstores. I'm going to talk to the Canadian reps and see if they've got anything planned. Thank you for the conversions!
UK dates please Lev!
I'll have them soon -- they're taking a little longer to sort out.
I am delighted we are included on your itinerary, thank you!
